    Summer seaside colour palette

    by  • August 30, 2013 • Living, Relaxed Spaces • 1 Comment

Have you been on your summer holiday? Did you go anywhere fun? For me, summer isn’t summer unless i’ve seen the sea and reflecting on the gorgeous weather we’ve all enjoyed this year has put me in a nautical frame of mind. So before Autumn begins and we have to pack away our summer things, today’s blog post celebrates everything coastal – the gorgeous colours, the sunbleached textures and the fresh, simple food. These photos are all from the gorgeous Toast catalogue – a company that has really got relaxed living down to a T. Go on, introduce a bit of coastal living into your life – you won’t regret it.

Everything tastes better when you’re on holiday! If only I could breakfast on a boat every day. Chunky tableware and rustic bread boards are kitchen staples for a relaxed seaside feel.

Travel light? Well I thought about it, but … then I decided against it.

Rustic dining calls for rustic glassware,  and I love this gorgeous azure blue and driftwood colour palette too. Just a pop of this colour in your home and you’ll instantly be transported back to clear blue skies and azure seas every time you look at it.

Over pack? Me? I thought everyone took their bed on holiday with them. Love the blue and white ticking duvet cover.

I can see the sea! Love the casual nonchalance of this pic.

Crisp, breezy linens, fresh white sneakers and a wicker bag for beach / picnic essentials. Holiday wardobe sorted.

Just love that rich blue and crisp white colour combination.

Blue and green should always be seen…The combination of navy and aqua paint colours on these boats is picture perfect.

And finally – this image is included purely so you can admire the striped hamam beach towels. Honest.

Vintage loveliness at Love From Rosie

    by  • August 28, 2013 • One Perfect Thing • 2 Comments

Do you love this Greengate kitchen range as much as I do? The team at Love From Rosie sent this pic over last week and there’s something about this image that I just can’t stop looking at!

I think it’s the combination of gorgeous Scandi design with classic French inspired patterns. And the soft colours. And the vintage styling. The collection has only just arrived in store, as it’s their  autumn / winter collection (gulp – where did summer go?) But if you liked this, I suggest you wander over and take a look at the rest of the range.

P.s. I want that coffee machine.

    Make this: Ribbon covered vase

    by  • August 25, 2013 • Crafting • 1 Comment

Today’s Craft Corner is a really quick and easy styling trick for prettying up a plain glass vase. Ideal for adding some colour and fun to your table, this ribbon vase will turn a simple bunch of flowers into a zingy centrepiece.

Ready to start? Watch the video here, or view the steps below.

First of all, take a plain glass vase (a square one is easier), some double sided tape and a selection of colourful ribbons.

Next, choose your flowers. I’ve stuck to a simple palette of yellow and pink for mine, but just choose whatever you love, or whatever’s in season!

Then, taking your first piece of ribbon, start wrapping your vase, one layer at a time. Easy peasy.

I used a variety of ribbon widths and patterns to add a fun, vintage feel to my vase.

Ta da! Couldn’t be easier. I’ve left a gap at the top of the vase so the green colour of the flower stems can show though, but you can take it right up to the top if you like.

All that’s left to do is add the flowers (and the water!) and you’ve got a nifty little centrepiece. A trio of these would look fantastic on an outdoor table. Or pop one on a hallway console table for a fresh burst of colour when you walk through the door.
