As I process them all for yet another season, I feel compelled to give immediate props to the stand-outs, and at 100% Design yesterday, that post belonged to the Light/Shade collection from Naomi Paul.
Her crochet lampshades (or cro-shades, if you will) are hanging woven works of art and have impressed interiors media and design junkies alike for years, with Naomi herself winning the ‘Young Designer of the Year 2012’ at the Homes & Gardens Designer Awards.The new Light/Shade collection is an absolute stunner.
Super sexy in proportions and served up in a mixed palette that is hotter than a Riviera sunset, I am currently contemplating one for every room of my flat.These are furthermore of note in light of the current craze for craft.
There is a very pure, very handicraft feeling about them, and texturally they are glorious, but the tight and slick execution takes them beyond the wholesomeness that is associated with craft.
